SCMC Emergency Department Expansion
Carlson-LaVine completed a 16,000-square-foot expansion of the Stevens Community Medical Center Emergency Department in Morris, Minnesota. The $14 million project doubled the number of ER patient rooms and included 11,000 square feet on the main floor with 5,000 square feet above for future growth. Despite construction, the existing ER remained fully operational, thanks to careful planning and creative wayfinding solutions. The expansion also made room for updated radiology, therapy, and cardiac rehab services, including a new wide-bore MRI and upgraded DEXA scanner. Support from the Morris City Council enabled the hospital to expand its footprint by vacating an adjacent street. Staff input helped shape the design, ultimately improving patient flow, privacy, and safety for both patients and caregivers.
